Little Help?

You might have guessed that we have a new digital camera. I don't want to rely on it too much for the blog, because a photo blog isn't necessarily that interesting. Having said that, do you know what this tiny flower is?

  1. After some googling, I'm guessing Canadian violet. Anyone?

Why don't you consult a Master Gardener?

  3. Canadian violet. For a second there I thought it might be a uniquely colored pink & white lady slipper, but it looks like that's a flat petal at the bottom, not a little puff petal.

  5. Thanks for the confirmation, Master Gardner!

Liz, you're right, it's very much a flat petal. I wish I had taken the picture in the daytime, instead of at dusk; it looks a little dim.

  6. Because I happen to be working on a project about native plants, I know that's a lance-leaved violet (Canadian Violet is its common name).
