Maia got a tutu on loan from her dance teacher today. She kept her black leotard and tights on all afternoon and evening, and offered to make supper with me while wearing the pink tutu. She piroetted and leaped through the kitchen as I got the food ready.
After supper, she pulled on a pair of pants and her puddlestompers to rescue worms from the flooded driveway. Back and forth she ran, depositing wriggling live ones and white, limp dead ones in the garden.
"Dis one's dead, but I'm gonna put it in the garden anyway, Mama," she said, gathering up a long bedraggled specimen. "Oops! Can you get that piece?"
