Self-Congratulatory Parenting Post, You Are Warned

Matt took John school-shoe-shopping yesterday. (He needs two pairs! One for school, and one special for gym!) After they found some suitable ones, they strolled through the mall. (Going past Spencer's, John said, "WHAT'S THAT?" and Matt said "NOTHING!" and pulled him past it in a way we haven't done since he was two.)

John wanted to see the arcade. They walked in, and John looked around for a few moments, then said, "Let's get out of here. Can we go to the bookstore?"

  3. Is this the Spencer's Gifts where you spent time and money and whose merchandise may still be haunting your childhood home?

She's much more subtle than mine, who just says, "When are you going to pick up that crap that's still here from before you moved out?"

  6. Actually, most of that stuff is gone. It went back to Krup's when she sorted it out in front of her son and he liked some of it. (In everyone's defense, here, we all love books above anything else. Just ask anyone who has had to haul luggage back from a visit to any city that has a bookstore.)

  8. Oh man, John my boy...the arcade is where it's at, and not just books. At least, in the 80s, the arcade was where it was at. Not sure about now, when most of the games involve murder.

I still play Pacman online to get my daily rush of adrenaline:

It's about damn time this blog had a link to an arcade game... =)

  9. In fact, better yet, how 'bout a direct link to Spencer's online so we can all make a gift purchase for Catherine?
